Bergdorf Goodman celebrates its 111th Birthday this year and they’ve rolled out the purple carpet. The famed Fifth Avenue store is wrapped in vintage silhouette packaging and the windows chronicle the evolution of one of the nation’s premier dress ateliers from its opening in 1901 through 2012. Memorabilia, photographs, illustrations and fashion all play to the “111 Years of Extraordinary” theme. To celebrate its anniversary an exclusive collection by more than 100 designers capture the Bergdorf level of elegance and luxury, from handbags, shoes, dresses, perfumes and more. John Derrian created an exclusive plate depicting the building’s facade. And Parisian perfumer Francis Kurkdjian has created a signature fragrance inspired by Bergdorf’s and New York City. Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s ‘754’ scent is heavenly with notes of lemon, sweet pea, lily of the valley, freesia and white sandalwood. And celebrated Belgian floral artist Daniel Ost has created an installation on the main floor of hanging bamboo structures and lilac orchids. It is all quite extraordinary!
