I feel grateful to have met many wonderful people back in my teaching floral design days. One of my standout students was Devon Grimes. She was talented and spunky and we shared a Virginia connection. I was thrilled for her when a number of years ago she set out to focus on art-making after nearly nine years in the floral world in New York City. I’ve enjoyed watching her art practice grow and her oeuvre deepen. As a latent painter, I’ve delighted in her attention to art, relishing in the rich lines and colors, and her current focus on everyday objects as vignettes. You can see some of her works at the new Gallery Art & gallery space at 123 Nassau Ave in Greenpoint, Brooklyn for another month. She travels around the world to display her works at art fairs and in Brooklyn at Brooklyn Flea. Cheers!
