As we observe Veterans Day honoring the veterans who have served our country, I’m remembering my grandfather, Charles Was, and his time spent serving our country in England and France during World War II. These pictures and Cablegrams sent from my grandfather touch me and I am grateful for his sacrifice, as well as the millions of others who make and have made sacrifices for their countries. He learned of my father’s birth through a Cablegram, and his joyous reply arrived to my grandmother on what we now know as ‘D-Day,’ June 6, 1944. A Million Thanks.
