Moved by A Master: Ariella Chezar

Moved by A Master: Ariella Chezar

One of the benefits of teaching at FlowerSchool New York is meeting some pretty incredible florists. I’ve worked for a number of the Master Florists who teach at FlowerSchool New York but never before had the opportunity to cross paths with Ariella Chezar. Known for her elegantly organic style of arranging flowers, her 2002 book, “Flowers for the Table: Arrangements and Bouquets for All Seasons,” introduced us all to the wonders of incorporating fruits, branches and local organic material along with our flowers. The result is magic. And her mastery in creating with the colors, textures and forms of nature is magical.

We may all have the chance to cross paths with Greatness. Ariella Chezar has opened a flower shop in partnership with FlowerSchool Executive Director, Calvert Crary, in FlowerSchool’s previous space in Tudor City. At Ariella New York no detail escapes Ariella’s distinctively exquisite mark. The soft grey walls and the elegant grey packaging lend a calm and warm backdrop for her masterful floral concoctions. It is a treat to witness her create with seemingly effortless ease. I guess all Masters do.

*UPDATE* Ariella New York has closed as of 2014
